A trip to the pretty village of Chorleywood a few weekend’s ago saw myself and Scarlett arrive at a local gastro-pub – The Gate. Since it was a rather sunny day, we decided to order some drinks from the bar and sit ourselves outside in the beer garden to enjoy the first signs of summer.
After our short stay in the sun, we were welcomed by the Pub Manager Chris into the restaurant area where a table awaited us.
We sampled an assortment of dishes from the menu, including the sticky sharing platter (a sizeable portion of lamb, grilled chicken and ribs on a bed of fresh melon) and the spit-roasted chicken with the most delicious sweet potato fries.
Dessert was also a ‘sharing’ affair, with an assortment of sweet treats. The double chocolate ice cream cookie sandwich was a clear favourite, while the Creme Brûlée was also a delicious option.
The pub would be a great place to take your girlfriend/boyfriend, fiancé or maybe your parents as a treat. There wasn’t anything we could complain about, as the seating, food and service were all great quality and we left with plans to return again.
Our meal was complimentary, however all opinions are my own.
